Advanced Mining and Mineral Production Technologies
| CMEI AOI 6: Advanced Technologies for Domestic Critical Mineral Extraction, Midstream Processing, and Recycling – antimony or tungsten | Critical Materials Technologies LLC (CMT) is developing commercialisation opportunities in antimony and tungsten extraction, purification and recovery for U.S. critical-material supply chains. CMT is progressing licensing discussions with Rice University relating to antimony extraction and subsequent electrodeposition and coating developments, and is exploring a tungsten research programme.
CMT seeks a DOE National Laboratory partner with existing laboratory-developed technology meeting CLIMR eligibility and readiness requirements that could complement this work. We envisage a focused project addressing one defined mineral feedstock and target intermediate, with measurable recovery, purity, impurity control, reagent recycling and process-economic objectives.
Potential contributions include commercialisation planning, customer and offtaker engagement, product-specification development and coordination of feedstock access. Representative U.S. tungsten material could potentially be sourced through AM74, subject to agreement and characterisation. Rice and AM74 participation would require separate agreement; no laboratory partnership is yet confirmed.
CMT welcomes discussions with laboratory investigators developing CLIMR concepts in critical-mineral processing. We are interested in assessing complementary technologies, technical validation and pathways to customer qualification and scale-up. Project scope, IP rights and any cost-share would be agreed with the project partners. |

| Office of Electricity, AOI 1, T&D Circuit Digital Twins for Preventive Maintenance and Load Interconnection Support. | Watchfuly, Inc. is a small business building Plexus, an always-on digital twin of utility distribution circuits. Plexus automatically identifies the binding component constraint on each feeder and delivers hosting capacity, large-load and DER interconnection screening, non-wires alternatives, and reliability analytics. We are extending it with condition-aware modeling that replaces nameplate ratings with asset-health-adjusted parameters, so the twin can flag equipment at risk before it fails. No neural surrogates are used, so results hold up for planning and regulatory use.
Interest (OE AOI 1, T&D Circuit Digital Twins): we want to serve as the commercialization partner for National Lab-developed grid modeling, digital twin, data synthesis, or T&D co-simulation technology. We bring a working platform to integrate lab IP into, direct relationships with electric cooperatives and mid-sized utilities for field validation, and a path to market through pilots and subscriptions. We are especially interested in lab work on unified transmission-distribution power flow, building feeder models from incomplete utility data, and asset-health-aware load interconnection studies. As a small business, we qualify a partner lab for the reduced cost-share subtopic (b). |

| Advanced Technologies of Air Separation Unit (High Purity Oxygen) for Modular Gasification and Oxy-Combustion | Background Mote, Inc. is developing modular biomass gasification platforms that convert waste biomass from wildfire mitigation programs and agricultural residues into valuable products while supporting the beneficial utilization of underused biomass resources. Our modular platforms integrate feedstock feeding, gasification, syngas cleanup, and downstream processing to produce high-purity streams of hydrogen (H₂) and carbon dioxide (CO₂). Interest: Mote is currently commissioning its Advanced Testing Center (ATC), a pilot-scale platform that provides an integrated environment for technology development, process optimization, and validation. The ATC will enable Mote to test and de-risk individual technologies within the complete process, evaluate process integration, and generate operating data to inform the design and deployment of our first commercial modules. Mote is progressing toward commercial deployment while continuing to develop and validate technologies that can improve system performance, efficiency, and cost. Mote is interested in partnering with a National Laboratory under HGEO Area of Interest 4 “Advanced Technologies of Air Separation Unit (ASU)”, to bring new technologies toward commercialization within our modular biomass gasification platforms. High-purity oxygen is an important component of our gasification process, and integrating an advanced ASU technology could provide opportunities to improve the performance, efficiency, and economics of our commercial systems. Capabilities: Mote can provide a relevant pilot-scale platform and commercial pathway for technology validation and integration. Our ATC offers the opportunity to evaluate advanced ASU technologies under representative process conditions and assess their integration with biomass feeding, gasification, syngas cleanup, and downstream processing. Following successful validation, Mote has the capability to incorporate the final technology and system design into our commercial modular platforms. We are seeking a National Laboratory partner with complementary expertise in advanced oxygen separation and ASU technologies to jointly evaluate, validate, and advance an integrated solution from pilot-scale demonstration toward commercial deployment. |
